The GTX boasts the most powerful electric powertrain that Volkswagen has ever unfolded, showcasing a dual-motor setup that makes 295 horsepower in total.

This setup enables the ID. 5 GTX can sprint from zero to sixty miles an hour in just 5.4 seconds making it quicker than a number of traditional sports cars, but with the practicality of an SUV.

The ID. 5 Using a coupe-like shape, the GTX also looks more modern than the ID. 4, which has been attractive to the sort of buyer who cares as much about form as function.

Even with its sportier profile, the ID. 5 GTX also doesn’t lose too much practicality, with 21.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, or 44.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

We were also impressed with the ride quality and handling balance for such a sharp GTX-badged model; the car comes as standard with adaptive dampers and has a sophisticated suspension setup which encourages enthusiastic driving but also isolates you on long journeys.

The duo also enjoy VW’s latest software, including a new infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen and better voice recognition. Interior Both the Odyssey and Pacifica provide cavernous cabins with flat floors for maximum interior space and passenger ease.

The attractive pricing of the ID. 4 Pro butting up squarely against the Tesla Model Y Long Range that starts at $47,740 — offering Volkswagen a nearly $6,500 pricing edge. Similarly, the ID. 5 GTX takes on the Tesla Model Y Performance $50,490 and boasts similar performance but also a more traditional level of luxury and a more unique design language for potential buyers who want a Tesla alternative and don’t like the very minimalistic look of the American brand.
